On 11 November 2007, The Digital Bookshelf donated an Honor Roll of over 3,400 California Soldiers, Sailors and Marines who died during WWI to the California State Military Museum for free public access on the museum's website:  (http://www.militarymuseum.org/WWIRollofHonor.html )

This Honor Roll is an excerpt from our (much) larger WWI A.E.F. Fatality database, which also contains many more fields of information about the individual fatalities.  Details about the whole database can be found in our short website tour.

To view a press release about the donation, go to: http://www.eworldwire.com/pressreleases/17866

Several new CDs are available.  Check out the products page for more information.

Are you in an area of the country damaged by Katrina or Rita?  The Digital Bookshelf may be able to assist your local library with free or discounted products and services.  Contact us for more information.

Expanded on-line services: we have developed several new websites, which cover most every aspect of American involvement in World War One from the American Expeditionary Forces to the homefront.  These materials include over 500 AEF unit histories with fully searchable text, an AEF fatality database, an AEF unit database, an AEF awards website, "The Doughboy Experience," "Technology and Tactics," "The American Homefront," and over 500 maps on our A.E.F. map website.

Website access: due to the huge investment of time and other resources, these websites are only available to subscribers.  Since the cost of a subscription is pretty high--at least for the average person--why not tell your local library about our products and services?  We have several institutional plans which are very affordable, and then you--and other library customers--can enjoy the wealth of information we've compiled!

Seeking rare unit histories: we are always looking to borrow or buy rare AEF unit histories.  If you have any unit histories we don't have access to, we would like to make arrangements to borrow the book from you (we handle all materials very carefully, and they are not damaged in the digitization process).  If you are not willing to loan your materials, we may be able to work from a photocopy.

We also will purchase needed unit histories or give you a good bargain if you wish to trade for CDs.  This would be a great way to help us to preserve important historical information while acquiring your own personal digital reference library.
